08776 with derailed lime wagons Tees YardPrevious | NextThe site of the old sidings has been cleared, the ballast left over is a welcome habitat for the RARE Grayling Butterfly, Maze Park (Tees Valley Wildlife Trust) is making ballast beds as the butterfly uses them to lay eggs in! Only three colonies of this type of butterfly are in the North East of England! The best time to look for this rare creature is in early July!
